From Dreams to Reality: 2024 Scholarship Recipients Announced

Opening your email. Realizing you were awarded a scholarship. Shock and awe.

That’s what nearly 4,200 students across North America felt when they added yet another achievement to add to their already impressive scholastic careers. The Burger King℠ Foundation announced the 2024 recipients of BK℠ Scholars awards earlier this year who were awarded with over $4.5 million in scholarships. The list of winners includes bright high school seniors and BK® employees and their family members that are continuing their education.

As it’s been done for the last 19 years, the McLamore Family Foundation has sponsored three, $60,000 James W. McLamore WHOPPER® Scholarship awards through the BK℠ Scholars program. The award not only recognizes the top students, but honors the Foundation’s namesake and Burger King® brand co-founder James “Jim” W. McLamore.

“With this scholarship I will not only be able to lessen the amount of tuition but also decrease the strain on my parents,” said Jessica Nwosu, one of three WHOPPER® Scholarship award recipients. Jessica will be attending Columbia University this fall and hopes to one say become a lawyer

As always, 10 $5,000 BK℠ Scholars Regional Awards were granted to the top 10 employees in the U.S., including future doctors, engineers and more, all working towards creating brighter futures.

Since the BURGER KING℠ Scholars program’s inception in 2000, $60 million has been awarded to more than 51,000 students throughout North America. BK℠ Scholars awards are granted to help offset the cost of attending college or a post-secondary vocational/technical school. Recipients are based on their grade point average, extracurricular activities, community service and work experience. The application window opens yearly from Oct. 15-Dec. 15.

The Foundation’s flagship program was established to honor Jim McLamore’s legacy and commitment to philanthropy and education.
