On February 27, 2024, the Burger King Foundation teamed up with the Education Fund to sponsor the 10th Annual Taste of Education event! The Taste of Education is a culinary competition comprised of 30 Miami-Dade County Public Schools’ (MDCPS) culinary program teams from middle and high schools. Teams of young chefs from each participating school were tasked with creating unique dishes across the meat, seafood, dessert and vegetarian categories that highlighted their culinary skills. The teams competed for prizemoney and were judged by celebrity chefs and a culinary committee comprise of hospitality industry partners and community leaders.
As a sponsor, we had the opportunity to judge the Meat Category and vote on our top pick. The Savory Duck Confit Cheesecake with Caramelized Onion Jam was the winner!
Through our sponsorship, we're able to support culinary arts within MDCPS through teaching and career development opportunities. Students learn all about proper food presentation and preparation techniques, safety best practices, and about the food service and hospitality sector in general.
